Inflection AI introduces Pi chatbot, a 'kind' personal assistant
The AI race has catapulted the introduction of new chatbots and AI tools by various companies and governments worldwide. As OpenAI’s sensational ChatGPT continues to gain immense popularity due to its superpowers, there is another AI chatbot on the block- Inflection AI’s Pi.
Founded by former co-founders of DeepMind and LinkedIn, Mustafa Suleyman and Reid Hoffman, Inflection AI has developed a unique AI chatbot 'Pi.' Unlike Google Bard or OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Pi is designed to be more like a companion providing support to humans rather than an assistant for mundane tasks.
According to Inflection AI, Pi stands for "personal intelligence,” and it provides infinite knowledge based on the user’s unique needs. The chatbot has been designed to be supportive, smart, and there for the user anytime. The AI chatbot has been trained on billions of lines of text on the open web, enabling it to answer a wide range of questions and have conversations with users.
Pi offers users an inviting interface with text that floats, using emojis and words that evoke empathy. It has four voice options that read out text responses in the most human-like way possible. Pi has been designed to be a sympathetic sounding board, rather than a tool that provides information, as per Inflection AI's CEO, Mustafa Suleyman.
Users can engage with Pi on a variety of topics, from quantum physics to movie trivia, and even ask for advice about life decisions or learn new hobbies and skills. Pi is trained to be a helpful chatbot in every way it can.
Although the initial response to Pi chatbot has been underwhelming, with many users claiming that it is slower than ChatGPT, the Pi chatbot stands out with its unique style of conversation and response. Inflection AI says that Pi is still in its early stages of development and may not always produce the correct response.
Inflection AI is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and users can access the web version at heypi.com.
