Google Gemini's Live Screen Sharing Features Is Now Free For All Android Users
Gemini, Google's AI assistant, has announced that its 'Gemini Live' feature will be available to all Android users who have the Gemini app installed. This feature enables users to share their device's screens and camera feeds with Google's virtual assistant.
Gemini can then survey it and perform tasks on command, based on information it gathers from what it "sees", the company said in a post on X. It can undertake nuanced functions like providing recommendations to users on things like aesthetic and presentation.
For example, one of its early demo videos from Google showcased it providing suggestions on the best color combinations the user could employ to paint their vases in order to achieve a 'mid-century modern' look. This was based on what it could gather from the user's camera feed.
It carried out a similar function in another demo video from the software company where the user shared their screen with Gemini and asked it for styling advice and product recommendations for the clothes displayed on-screen.
"We’ve been hearing great feedback on Gemini Live with camera and screen share, so we decided to bring it to more people," the post from the official Google Gemini App account said. Free access would be available to all Android users starting from Thursday, and spanning over the coming weeks, according to the post.
It was initially only going to launch for Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 smartphone users, according to a post from Gemini on April 7. Users can also access Gemini's 'Deep Research' feature, which could facilitate the AI to scour the internet and compile detailed and comprehensive reports on command. There are no clarifications as of yet, regarding the exact limitations the free-tier users of Deep Research might have while using them.
