Google rolls out Gemini Live with new voices for Android users and more
Google has expanded access to its conversational AI assistant, Gemini Live, making it available to all Android users. Previously, this feature was limited to premium subscribers. Gemini Live enables natural and fluid conversations, allowing users to interrupt and change the topic mid-discussion. It can be utilized for brainstorming, answering questions, and more, directly through the Gemini app. The assistant operates in the background, allowing users to multitask without keeping the app open.
Enhanced User Experience with New Voices
One of the key highlights of this update is the introduction of 10 new voices, offering users a more personalized experience. Options include voices like "Nova" (calm, mid-range) and "Capella" (higher pitch with a British accent). While the current version supports English only, Google plans to introduce support for more languages and iOS in the near future.
Although Gemini Live does not currently support integrations like Gmail and YouTube Music (part of the upcoming Gemini Extensions), users can look forward to these features in upcoming updates. This broader rollout positions Gemini Live as a valuable tool for Android users seeking a dynamic AI experience.
Customizable Voice Options
Gemini Live offers 10 distinct voice options that enable users to tailor the AI's tone and style to their preferences. These voices have been carefully crafted to offer a range of tones, from soothing and calm to energetic and bright, enhancing the conversational experience. Users can switch between voices in the Gemini app settings under “Gemini’s Voice,” allowing for a more personalized and dynamic interaction.
Upon downloading the Gemini app from the Google Play Store, users can access the Gemini Live feature at the bottom of the screen. By tapping on the "Live" icon, users can initiate a conversation with Gemini, prompting responses to queries or assistance with brainstorming. To customize the experience, users can navigate to the app settings, specifically "Gemini’s Voice," where they can select from various voice options such as Nova, Ursa, Vega, and Capella.
This version of Gemini Live is now available for free to all Android users, having previously been exclusive to premium subscribers. While the current language support is limited to English, future updates are expected to introduce additional languages. Additionally, iOS support is also on the horizon.
