Google Details the New Gemini AI Assistant Feature

In a support page, Google provided more information about this new feature, explaining how Gemini extensions can now work directly on the lock screen of Android devices. These extensions were initially introduced last year, enabling Gemini to connect with different apps and device functions to perform tasks efficiently.

Previously, these extensions were accessible on the web client, the Android app, and the Gemini AI assistant but were not functional on the lock screen. This limitation meant that even basic tasks, such as setting an alarm, required the intervention of Google Assistant.

With the latest update, users can enjoy a more seamless experience with Gemini on the lock screen. Reports from Gadgets 360 staff confirm that extensions are now operational on their Android device lock screens.

Enhanced Functionality on the Lock Screen

Users can now leverage the Gemini AI assistant to perform tasks like answering general inquiries, setting reminders, obtaining quick navigation details, and locating nearby stores directly from the lock screen. When activated, the redesigned Gemini interface appears, automatically switching to a full-screen interface to complete the task efficiently.
