Google Gemini Likely To Soon Get a New Voice for Android Users ...
Google is reportedly testing a new feature in Gemini, which may include a new voice option for Android users. As per reports, the update will likely enhance the user experience by introducing a new female voice to Gemini. Since its launch, Gemini has been using a male voice to read out responses.
Testing of New Voice Feature
According to a report by 9to5google, Google Gemini, the AI chatbot, is evolving and Google is currently experimenting with a new voice for Android devices. The new voice is female and is being tested as part of a trial. Interestingly, this voice is automatically enabled without any user intervention. At the I/O 2024 event, Google unveiled that Gemini Live would offer users 10 different voices for a more natural sound. The testing phase of this feature is currently ongoing.
Potential Impact on User Experience
Google Assistant offers users 12 voices, each associated with a specific color name. It is anticipated that Gemini, the AI chatbot, will adopt a similar approach. The new voice in Gemini is expected to be accessible to Android users, while the iOS app and web client will remain unchanged for the time being. Reports also indicate that Google has commenced the implementation of the new voice in the Gemini app, with a gradual rollout and certain restrictions.
Enhanced Capabilities of Google Gemini AI Assistant
In addition to the voice update, the Google Gemini AI Assistant has acquired a new feature. It can now respond to queries and execute tasks on a locked Android phone, as multiple reports suggest. Even when the screen is inactive, users can trigger the assistant by saying "Hey Google". This command will activate the assistant and display the Gemini AI interface on the screen, providing users with the option to interact through voice commands or text input.
