Google's Plans to Collaborate with Apple
Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai, recently hinted at a potential deal that could bring Gemini AI to Apple devices. This revelation came during Pichai's testimony in defense of Google's agreements with tech giants such as Apple, Samsung Electronics, AT&T, and Verizon as the default search engine on new mobile devices.
While Google has not yet finalized an agreement with Apple to incorporate Gemini AI on iPhones, Pichai disclosed that he discussed the possibility with Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, last year. The proposed collaboration would involve integrating Google's Gemini AI into Apple Intelligence, Apple's existing suite of AI features.
Exploring New Opportunities
Aside from the potential partnership with Apple, Pichai also mentioned Google's plans to introduce advertisements within the Gemini app. This move signifies Google's intention to innovate and explore new revenue streams while enhancing user experience through AI technology.
Legal Implications and Market Dominance
The ongoing discussions around Google's agreements with key industry players underscore the company's strategy to maintain its dominance in both online search and AI. Legal proceedings, such as the case brought forth by the US Department of Justice, aim to address concerns regarding Google's market influence and competitive practices.
In a similar vein, US district judge Amit Mehta previously ruled that Google's financial investments in wireless carriers and smartphone manufacturers contributed to its monopoly in the digital sphere.
