Galaxy users can now set ChatGPT as the default assistant
Samsung Galaxy users now have the ability to set ChatGPT as their default assistant on smartphones, replacing Gemini AI according to their preferences. Samsung had recently introduced Gemini AI as the default assistant on Galaxy S25 smartphones with One UI 7. However, users now have the option to switch to Bixby if they prefer.
Google has announced a new upgrade that allows users to replace Gemini with ChatGPT on Galaxy smartphones. This upgrade enables users to easily access ChatGPT's voice mode by either long-pressing the power button or swiping up from the screen's corner.

Upgrade Compatibility
A report from Android Authority states that the latest ChatGPT beta now supports setting it as the default assistant on Android smartphones. This upgrade is compatible with any Android device, including Galaxy smartphones, offering users the opportunity to leverage this feature.
Users can trigger ChatGPT using the same buttons and gestures they use for activating Gemini. For instance, if the setting is enabled, users can launch ChatGPT by long-pressing the power button. This action initiates ChatGPT's voice mode, which, although some may argue is somewhat limited in functionality compared to other assistants like Perplexity AI on Android.
Official Statement
Samsung has not released an official statement regarding this upgrade yet. It remains to be seen how this new feature will operate on Galaxy devices and the full extent of its capabilities.
