At the Google I/O 2025, the company introduced new subscription plans for accessing AI features on the Gemini app. Previously known as "Gemini Advanced", the subscription tier now includes two models: Google AI Pro and AI Ultra. These plans offer users exclusive and unlimited access to powerful features such as text-to-video generation, top-tier AI model access, a greater context window, and more.
Without a Gemini app subscription, users will have limited access to these advanced features, which could impact their interactions with the app. Therefore, understanding the subscription plans, their benefits, and limitations is essential for maximizing the use of the app.
Free-tier Model
The free-tier model of the Gemini app provides users with access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro preview model, albeit with limitations. Users can utilize the Gemini 2.5 Flash for in-depth research queries, but switching AI models may be necessary due to limited access. Additionally, users have general access to the image generation tool.
However, the video generation tool is not included, and the context window is limited to 32000.
Google AI Pro
By subscribing to Google AI Pro (Rs.1950/month), users can enjoy expanded access to Gemini AI models (Gemini 2.5 Pro, 2.5 Flash) with enhanced research capabilities. They also gain access to the AI video generation tool with Veo 2, along with image generation, extended access to audio overviews, and a 1 million context window. Subscribers of Google AI Pro receive early access to new features as well.
Google AI Ultra
The Google AI Ultra plan (Rs.24,500/month) offers the highest level of access to all Gemini app features. Users benefit from extensive access to Gemini AI models (Gemini 2.5 Pro, 2.5 Flash) for deep research, as well as enhanced image generation, audio overviews, a 1 million context window, and early access to new features.
However, the use of the video generation tool with Veo 3 is still limited under this plan.
