Spotify Gemini Extension Now Live - EDMTunes
Spotify has recently integrated with Google’s Gemini AI through its Gemini Extension, enhancing user convenience and music accessibility. This move follows the introduction of the WhatsApp Gemini Extension, with Spotify now joining the ranks of third-party integrations. The new functionality offers powerful "play & search" capabilities similar to those seen on YouTube Music, albeit currently exclusive to Android users.
To leverage the Spotify Gemini Extension, users need to link their Spotify account with their Google Account. Once connected, users can interact with Gemini through simple commands, such as requesting it to play, search, or explore music on Spotify. Below are the steps to set it up:
Gemini’s Spotify Extension supports commands like:
- Play a specific track or artist
- Search for songs or albums
- Browse music genres
However, there are certain limitations to be aware of. For example, the feature does not currently support the creation of playlists or radio stations on Spotify. Additionally, if multiple music services are linked, Gemini will default to the last one used unless specified otherwise.
This rollout forms part of Google’s gradual release of five new Gemini Extensions, which include integrations with WhatsApp, Phone, and Messages. While some services like Google Home have achieved broader availability, most are still in the early stages of deployment.
Spotify’s collaboration with AI signifies another stride in merging AI-driven personalization with music streaming, presenting users with a more intelligent and streamlined approach to enjoying their favorite tunes. As the feature is expected to evolve further, it's evident that Spotify and Google are reshaping how music and smart assistants are interacted with.
