Google's Latest AI Features for Google Home and Nest Cameras
Google has been incorporating Gemini capabilities into various platforms and services, with recent announcements confirming the expansion of these AI chatbot features to additional platforms.
In August, Google introduced Gemini integration for Nest cameras, enhancing them with AI descriptions and more intelligent camera history search functionalities. Google has now provided further details regarding the availability of these features.
AI Descriptions and Smarter Camera History Search
According to Google, the AI descriptions on Nest cameras represent a significant improvement over the existing descriptions. The smarter camera history search feature enables users to ask specific questions like "Did the kids play in the backyard this afternoon?" or "Was a delivery truck here today?"
These features are currently opt-in options exclusively for select Nest Aware Plus subscribers in the US (English).
Enhanced Home Automation with Google Home
Google also introduced a Gemini-powered "Help me create" feature in the Google Home app to simplify home automation tasks. Users can simply describe the desired automation, such as setting reminders or scheduling activities like morning workouts, to trigger the desired actions.
The Google Home app can offer automation suggestions based on the user's devices and usage patterns, streamlining the smart home experience.
The "Help me create" functionality will debut later this year for select Nest Aware Plus subscribers in the US, initially available on the Google Home Android app. There is optimism for a broader rollout in other regions in the near future.
