With the support of UNESCO and its partners, as part of the Pan-African Initiative, Rwanda organized a kick-off workshop on September 12, 2024, to prepare the drafting of its national strategy document for the digitization of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and skills development systems.

The workshop brought together various stakeholders to analyze the state of digitization of TVET and skills development in the country, and to discuss the methodology to be adopted for the drafting of the national TVET digitization strategy document.

Following this launch, experts from Rwanda's national technical team, supported by UNESCO, will be tasked with drawing up a foresight note to define a vision, direction, and approaches to put in place a national action plan for the development of the strategy document.

Following the example of Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, and Guinea Rwanda intends to finalize, validate, and implement its national TVET digitization strategy document before the end of this year.

As a reminder, the aim of the Pan-African Initiative is to create an ecosystem that will enable the digital transformation of TVET and skills development systems in Africa by 2030. The overall goal is to build a pan-African network to accelerate the digital transition of TVET across the continent, in line with the African Union's Agenda 2063. The main objective being that, by 2030, at least half of African countries (at least 27 countries) will have drawn up their national strategy for the digital transformation of their TVET system.
