Introducing Community Notes - Adding Context to Posts | Meta
Community Notes is a new feature that empowers users to provide additional context to posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. It allows users to flag content that may be misleading or lacking context and contribute their insights to enhance the overall user experience. By becoming a Community Notes contributor, you can actively participate in improving the quality of information shared on these platforms.
Unlike traditional moderation systems, where platforms make decisions on content, Community Notes rely on contributions from users. These notes are created and evaluated by members of the community, ensuring that they align with Meta's Community Standards.
Becoming a Contributor
If you are interested in becoming a Community Notes contributor, you can sign up for this feature. To be eligible, you must be located in the U.S., be above 18 years old, have an account that is at least 6 months old and in good standing, and have a verified phone number or two-factor authentication enabled. Eligible contributors will be granted access to the feature once the beta phase is launched.
How It Works
As a Community Notes contributor, you can submit notes on posts that you believe require additional context or clarification. These notes can include background information, tips, or insights to help other users better understand the content. Notes should be concise, under 500 characters, and may include relevant links to external sources.
Contributors will have the opportunity to write and submit notes on a wide range of public content across Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. By sharing your knowledge and perspective, you can contribute to a more informed and transparent online community.
Rollout of Community Notes
While Community Notes is still in its beta phase and not yet widely available, Meta is gradually introducing this feature to users. Stay tuned for more updates on the rollout of Community Notes in the coming months.
