OpenAI Launches Full Version of Reasoning-Focused o1 AI Model
OpenAI recently announced the launch of the full version of the o1 artificial intelligence (AI) model, moving it out of preview and into the hands of users. This new version comes with enhanced capabilities that surpass those of the o1-preview model. OpenAI claims that the updated o1 model offers faster response times and more precise reasoning abilities.
One of the significant updates is that the OpenAI o1 AI model is now available to all paid subscribers of ChatGPT. In addition to this, the company introduced a new subscription tier called ChatGPT Pro, which provides users with expanded access to OpenAI's top models and tools.
12 Days of OpenAI
These recent developments are part of OpenAI's "12 days of OpenAI" campaign, during which the company plans to unveil new features and updates each day. On the first day of the campaign, OpenAI shared the news that the reasoning-focused o1 AI model is officially out of preview and accessible within ChatGPT.
OpenAI emphasized the improvements in the full version of the o1 model, highlighting its enhanced performance in various tasks such as coding, math, writing, and even image processing. Users can now upload images to the chatbot, which can generate responses based on the provided visuals. For example, users could show the AI an image of a birdhouse and request detailed instructions on how to build it.
Enhanced Capabilities and Roadmap
Internal testing revealed that the o1 model significantly reduced errors when tackling complex real-world questions, outperforming its predecessor, the o1-preview, by 34 percent. The full version of the o1 model is now accessible to ChatGPT Plus and Team users via the model selector within the chatbot interface. Enterprise and Edu users can expect access to the model within a week.
Looking ahead, OpenAI has plans to add support for web browsing and file upload tools to the o1 model in ChatGPT. Additionally, the company aims to integrate the large language model (LLM) into its API, enabling features such as function calling, developer messages, Structured Outputs, and improved vision capabilities.

In a recent blog post, OpenAI announced the launch of the ChatGPT Pro subscription. This premium tier grants users unlimited access to advanced models like o1, o1-mini, GPT-4o, and the Advanced Voice tool.
