OpenAI expands Deep research feature to all ChatGPT paid plan users
Earlier this month, OpenAI unveiled the Deep Research feature for ChatGPT, allowing users to find, analyze, and synthesize information from various online sources to generate detailed research reports. The reports include clear citations and a summary of the AI's thought process. Initially available only to ChatGPT Pro plan subscribers, users were limited to 100 queries per month.
Today, OpenAI made an announcement about expanding the Deep Research feature to include ChatGPT Plus, Team, Edu, and Enterprise users. This means that all users on paid plans can now access the ChatGPT Deep Research feature, with plans to extend it to free users in the future. However, there are restrictions on the usage of this feature. ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu subscribers are limited to 10 deep research queries per month, while ChatGPT Pro users now have an increased limit of 120 queries per month.
Enhancements to Deep Research
Since its launch, OpenAI has implemented several improvements to the Deep Research feature. Reports generated through this feature can now include embedded images with proper citations. Additionally, the AI has been enhanced to better understand and reference uploaded files. OpenAI also released an official System Card for the Deep Research feature, categorizing it as a medium-risk tool under its Preparedness Framework.
