The Challenge with Copilot
Many users have found Copilot to offer a subpar experience compared to ChatGPT, leading them to resort to using ChatGPT and pasting responses into Microsoft Word. While Copilot may have its shortcomings, Microsoft does have an advantage over OpenAI with its AI-powered intelligent recap feature for Teams meetings. 
Microsoft's focus on software security, compliance, data protection, and legal reviews sets it apart from competitors like OpenAI. Jeff Teper, who leads Microsoft Teams, emphasizes the superior user experience and security features of Microsoft's offerings.
The Roadblocks for Copilot
Despite its potential, Microsoft faces challenges in fully realizing Copilot's capabilities. The company's hesitance to take risks with Copilot can be traced back to past experiences, with some likening Copilot to a modern version of the infamous chatbot Clippy.
Even Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff criticized Microsoft, suggesting that Copilot was not delivering value to clients and labeling it as Clippy 2.0. Engineers within Microsoft acknowledge ChatGPT's superiority and are willing to invest in it personally due to restrictions on expensing rival AI subscriptions. 
While Microsoft continues to refine Copilot and address user feedback, the competition between Copilot and ChatGPT remains fierce, with each AI chatbot offering unique advantages and challenges for users.
