The launch of OpenAI's new GPT-4o “omni” model in May has sent ChatGPT’s app revenue soaring. Following the model's release, the mobile version of OpenAI's chatbot has now experienced its highest revenue month to date. In July, the app generated $28 million in net revenue from the App Store and Google Play, according to data from app intelligence firm Appfigures.
Net revenue represents the sum OpenAI retains after paying Apple's and Google's in-app purchase fees. Appfigures also discovered that Apple's App Store contributed to 83% of the app's revenue, a percentage that has increased by 20% since June. Prior to app store fees, ChatGPT's app earned $28.9 million in May, $34 million in June, and $39.9 million in July.
