OpenAI's ChatGPT Surpasses Elon Musk's X To Rank Sixth Most Visited Website Globally
OpenAI's AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing Elon Musk's X and Yahoo in web traffic, securing the sixth spot among the most-visited websites worldwide in January 2025.

Why It’s Important:
In December 2022, shortly after the public release of ChatGPT, Google acknowledged its growing popularity and declared a "code red," recognizing its potential threat to Google's search dominance. OpenAI continued to challenge Google by introducing ChatGPT Search in October 2024, a feature that provided real-time information, typically associated with search engines.

By December, OpenAI extended this feature to all users, including those on the free tier, thereby enhancing its accessibility and impact. Meanwhile, Elon Musk, who co-founded OpenAI and later parted ways in 2018, reportedly made a significant bid of $97.4 billion to regain control of the company.
This development signifies a new era of competition and innovation in the AI and chatbot space, with OpenAI's ChatGPT making waves in the digital landscape.
