ChatGPT recovers after being hit by outages, OpenAI says
On Thursday afternoon, ChatGPT experienced widespread outages, leaving many users unable to access the AI app. OpenAI acknowledged the issues, mentioning that the application was facing glitches for some users. However, the company reported that the app was able to recover after several hours.

Full Recovery Achieved
In an update posted late Thursday night on OpenAI's status page, the artificial intelligence firm confirmed that ChatGPT had successfully achieved a "full recovery" by 11:16 p.m. Eastern Time. They also announced plans to conduct a comprehensive root-cause analysis of the outage and promised to share further details on the same page once the analysis is complete.
Technical Glitches and User Reports
According to reports from Downdetector, an online platform that offers real-time status updates on various websites and services, more than 15,000 incidents were documented by OpenAI users on Thursday afternoon. The majority of these incidents were linked to ChatGPT.

The issues began around 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time, with OpenAI initially acknowledging, "ChatGPT, the API, and Sora are currently experiencing high error rates due to an upstream provider problem, which we are actively monitoring." By late Thursday night, the number of reports had decreased to less than 50.
