Meta says it will expand production of mixed reality headsets in Vietnam
Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook, has announced its plans to increase investment in artificial intelligence innovation in Vietnam. This includes the production of its latest mixed reality headsets starting from 2025, as part of the company's efforts to strengthen its presence in the country.
The announcement was made by Meta's president for global affairs, Nick Clegg, during his visit to Vietnam. This decision comes shortly after Clegg's meeting with Vietnamese President To Lam in New York.
"Beginning 2025, Meta will expand manufacturing of its latest Mixed Reality device Quest 3S to Vietnam," stated Clegg. The company did not disclose the exact size of the investment or provide details about its current operations in Vietnam. Furthermore, Meta did not specify whether the manufacturing process would be carried out internally or through suppliers.
With millions of users in Vietnam utilizing Facebook, Meta emphasized the country's significance. Clegg highlighted, "Vietnam continues to be an important country for Meta. Millions of small businesses and consumers rely on our platforms."
AI Innovation in Vietnam
In addition to the production expansion, Meta also revealed its plans to test Meta AI in Vietnamese. The company had commenced testing its Business AI for Messenger in the country back in June, with a full launch anticipated by the end of the year.
This move signifies Meta's commitment to enhancing its AI capabilities and services for the Vietnamese market, aligning with its broader strategy of leveraging artificial intelligence to improve user experiences and business interactions.
