Meizu 21 Note Appears in Live Photos With 50 MP Camera...
When Geely announced its acquisition of Meizu, there were high hopes for a revival of the traditional smartphone brand. However, following the announcement of the Meizu 21 series, Meizu surprisingly decided to exit the smartphone business. It seems that the brand did not receive the expected attention with its new flagships, prompting the shift towards focusing on infotainment systems for Geely vehicles and its partners.
We were taken aback by the emergence of the Meizu 21 Note in recent online leaks. The device, featuring three cameras with a 50 MP sensor among them, is set to be released in at least two different colors. Live images of the phone reveal a distinct wavy effect on the back cover.
Design and Features
This is a notable departure for Meizu as the Meizu 21 Note showcases a camera island with the trio of shooters arranged in a triangular formation. The return of this lineup is significant as it marks the first appearance since the Meizu Note 9 in March 2019. The series had garnered popularity in the past, even rivaling the Redmi Note series during its early days. However, in light of the evolution of the smartphone market, the Meizu 21 Note is expected to adopt a different selling point.
Despite the anticipation surrounding the Meizu 21 Note, details regarding its release remain uncertain. Given Meizu's departure from the smartphone market, there is a possibility that the phone may not see the light of day, depending on the number of units already produced. More information is expected to surface in the near future.
Strategic Shift
CEO Shen Ziyu had previously indicated plans for the FlymeOS team to transition away from mobile devices towards the development of new AI terminal devices utilizing large language models such as Open AI. Meizu is also poised to introduce a new mobile OS tailored for the AI era, compatible with Geely-owned car brands like Polestar, Volvo, and Lotus.
