Apple Will Add ChatGPT to Siri, iPhone and Other Platforms for Free
Apple has announced its plans to integrate OpenAI's ChatGPT into various products and platforms, including the Siri smart assistant. This move comes as Apple aims to stay competitive in the AI race within Silicon Valley. The company will be incorporating ChatGPT into experiences across iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, to be launched in beta in the U.S. this fall. Users of Apple devices will have seamless access to ChatGPT's text-based answers, as well as its image and document processing capabilities, all without having to switch between different tools.
Integration of ChatGPT in Apple Products
ChatGPT will be a significant feature within Apple Intelligence, a lineup of AI initiatives and product developments revealed at the company's 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference in Cupertino, California. Siri users will also benefit from ChatGPT integration, requiring confirmation from users before sending any queries, documents, or photos to ChatGPT. Moreover, ChatGPT will be readily available in Apple's systemwide Writing Tools and Compose, enabling users to utilize ChatGPT image tools to create images in various styles to complement their content.

Apple has stressed that the Apple Intelligence features uphold user privacy in a completely secure manner. The company has implemented privacy protections for users accessing ChatGPT, ensuring that IP addresses remain obscured, and requests made through Apple products are not stored on OpenAI servers.

These tools empower users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text across various applications, such as Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps. The Rewrite tool offers different text versions, adjusting tones to suit the audience, while the Summarize tool delivers text in a digestible format, including bulleted key points, tables, or lists.
