ChatGPT Users Generate 700M Images in One Week, Overheating GPUs
OpenAI's latest image-generation capability in ChatGPT has taken the internet by storm, with over 130 million users collectively producing more than 700 million photos since its release on March 25. The new image generator, integrated into ChatGPT, has captivated users worldwide.
India's Rapid Growth in ChatGPT Market
Brad Lightcap, OpenAI's director, highlighted India as the fastest-growing market for ChatGPT. The tool's unique ability to create realistic Ghibli-style images sparked a viral trend and attracted millions of new users to the platform. However, this surge in activity has strained OpenAI's infrastructure and services.

Challenges Faced by OpenAI
OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, acknowledged the challenges posed by the overwhelming demand for the image generator. The company is actively working to scale its resources to meet the increased usage. Altman noted disruptions in product availability and service quality due to the unprecedented popularity of the Ghibli-style image AI.
GPU Overheating Issues
Altman also addressed concerns about GPUs overheating as a result of the intense usage of the new image generator. Despite the excitement surrounding the images created in ChatGPT, the strain on hardware resources is a significant issue. Temporary rate constraints are being implemented to alleviate the problem, with plans to provide ChatGPT's basic tier with up to three image generations per day.
