Huntsville's indoor dog pool facing closure
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville’s indoor dog pool may close soon if things don’t change. According to owner Caleb Ballew, Dog Splash has had a great year, but financially he can’t continue to operate the only indoor dog park in the state if changes don’t happen soon. Potential Closure of Dog Splash
“Dog Splash has done great this year, it’s the best year that Dog Splash has had so far but unfortunately on a personal level financially we can’t continue to operate Dog Splash under the current conditions,” said Ballew. “I’ve put my life savings into this over the past year. They are depleted now, we are looking at bankruptcy as an option. Hopefully somebody out there, hopefully a bunch of people there see this and decide to help us out.”
The potential closure would disrupt the routines of canines across the Tennessee Valley. Many owners have said their dogs love going to Dog Splash to swim.
The community impact of Dog Splash’s closure is significant. Owner Latisha Brown expressed concern over the closure and how it will affect her dog Juicy's routine.
Other dog owners, like Andy Carlson who owns a very energetic golden retriever, said the loss will be detrimental to the Huntsville community.
Possible Closure by End of January
Ballew said that without a change, Dog Splash will be closed by the end of January.
