10 Ways ChatGPT can revolutionize your home search

Home shopping can be daunting, especially in a challenging economy. However, using mobile apps like Zillow and Redfin can make the process less painful. The good news is that both these real estate websites have announced the integration of new ChatGPT plugins for real estate searches. ChatGPT, launched by OpenAI, is a conversational bot that uses natural language processing to have text conversations with users that can feel a lot like chatting with a real human.

The new addition of ChatGPT could make home searching a less painful process, making a real estate search as easy as a conversation with the AI chatbot. Using ChatGPT, users could ask to see listings within a set price range, ask whether a specific listing is for sale or rent, and find out the number of bedrooms and bathrooms as well as other features.

Zillow has been using artificial intelligence for many years, with the website using machine learning to generate its trademark Zestimate since 2006. They also use AI to generate immersive floor plans for listed properties and to perform natural language searches. Redfin, another real estate tech company also launching a ChatGPT plugin, hopes it enables its users to easily find homes that meet their criteria beyond a checklist or filtered search.

The ChatGPT plugin makes it possible to ask more detailed questions, like requesting a home in a neighborhood with trendy restaurants, that fits with your salary and budget. According to Zillow CTO, David Beitel, this is just the beginning. As the first major residential real estate marketplace to bring advanced, AI-powered search to the home-shopping experience, Zillow understands its immense potential, and they look forward to developing more tech innovations with OpenAI technology in the future.

OpenAI's ChatGPT-4 plugins are only available for a select number of users on a waitlist basis, with plans to expand on a larger scale over time. Right now, the Zillow ChatGPT is in its alpha phase and is being tested for user experience, so it's unclear when it will be available to all users.
