How AI is changing the world of film and TV production
At the “AI for Creatives – Video Production Day 2025” in Berlin, around 350 participants from the international Bertelsmann world and partner companies such as Google, Adobe, and Open AI gathered to discuss the current and future use of artificial intelligence (AI) in film and TV production. This event was organized jointly by RTL Group, Fremantle, and the Bertelsmann AI Hub, which facilitates the exchange of information and key areas of AI projects within the company while promoting synergies between businesses.
The conference highlighted how AI is revolutionizing the industry by accelerating production processes, enhancing efficiency, and supporting creative endeavors. Contrary to the misconception that AI replaces creative individuals, it actually complements them by automating tasks and sparking new ideas throughout the production cycle, from conceptualization to marketing.
Practical Applications of AI in Video Production
Various case studies presented at the event showcased how AI is currently utilized in idea generation, video and animation production, as well as voice cloning. Companies like RTL Studios, Fremantle, and UFA shared their experiences with tools such as Sora from Open AI, Veo2 from Google, and Camera to Cloud from Adobe. These tools expand the scope of video production by enabling tasks like text-to-video conversion and AI-enhanced post-processing of intricate scenes. Despite these advancements, human evaluation remains paramount to ensure quality, impact, and audience relevance.

AI in Content Marketing
Furthermore, AI is proving to be a game-changer in content marketing, as evidenced by the innovations of Runway, Eleven Labs, and RTL Deutschland. Whether it's creating trailers, thumbnails, or immersive online videos, AI streamlines content creation, making it faster, more cost-effective, and ultimately more imaginative.

The Video Production Day concluded with a glimpse into the future of hyper-personalized media content and an award ceremony honoring an AI-generated music video. Bertelsmann underscored the significance of responsible AI implementation, emphasizing the need for a harmonious balance between technology and human creativity.
