ChatGPT down for users globally, and here's how they are reacting ...
ChatGPT, which is one of the most popular AI agents from OpenAI, is reportedly down for many users. A lot of users took to X (formerly Twitter) to share that ChatGPT is not working for them. It seems to be a global outage as complaints are coming in from across the globe. The outage is also pretty recent and ChatGPT is not responding to any commands, some are even having trouble logging in. According to Downdetector, thousands of users have been affected by this. The company has yet to share any details about why it is happening and the extent of the outage.
Impact on Users
Out of the many AI assistants available globally, ChatGPT is one of the most popular and widely used ones. Even though the extent of the outage is not known yet, it must have impacted a lot of users. Many in our office alone have complained how the platform is not working for them. Downdetector shows how there was a spike at around 9:19 AM and it is only going up as more users are reporting the issue.
Previous Outages
This isn’t the first time that ChatGPT is down. Back in December, a similar outage was reported and OpenAI had acknowledged the same. Right now, since it hasn’t been too long since the issue started to happen, a comment from the company is still awaited.
User Reactions
New media reports suggest that millions of users around the globe are unable to use ChatGPT. Just like with any major event, X gets to know it all first. Frustrated users took to X to share this, one said, “I actually love twitter because anytime I think it’s just me, I come here and find out that everyone is thinking the exact same way. So I can confirm the ChatGPT is down.”

Another one said, “chatgpt is always down in the middle of doing my assignment.” The other one shared, “chatgpt going down when I need it most.”
Global Frustration
Fans were in the middle of their workday in places like India and are pretty frustrated. Another X user said, “Chatgpt is down… I thought it got sick of me complaining omg ???”
Current Status
