Why Pay for AI Apps When ChatGPT Does It All?

When I write about different AI services, apps, and new concepts, I usually emphasize that AI is everywhere these days and it can sometimes feel tiresome because there are not always enough use cases to justify an added AI.
The problem I am finding with most of these AI apps is that they are often just a shell for ChatGPT or they are building upon ChatGPT, rather than using their trained model. They use an API to talk to ChatGPT and simply use one of its models (i.e., GPT-4o). The developer creates predefined use cases, phrases, and prompts to instruct ChatGPT on how it should behave, giving the illusion of an AI-powered app.
Yes, of course, ChatGPT is involved, but these apps or services are essentially just repackaging it. In many cases, there is no real customization. While there are good apps out there, most of the time, I ask myself:
