OpenAI still investigating cause of recent ChatGPT outage - HUM ...
ChatGPT, the renowned language model developed by OpenAI, is presently facing an outage in various regions, including Pakistan. Users are encountering errors, unable to use prompts, and finding their chat history inaccessible.
Investigation and Resolution
The disruption commenced after 7 PM local time in Pakistan. Despite more than three hours passing, the issue persists. OpenAI has acknowledged the problem around two hours ago and is actively investigating it. However, the exact cause of the outage remains undisclosed at this time.
This recent outage marks the second time within the past 48 hours that ChatGPT has faced downtime. OpenAI's official website displays a notice stating that the service is unavailable for "some" users as investigations are ongoing.
Monitoring and Response
Down Detector, a platform that tracks website downtime, has observed a notable surge in user reports following this outage. Previous incidents, such as one in November 2023, saw OpenAI attributing problems to "periodic outages due to an abnormal traffic pattern indicative of a DDoS attack."
The impact of the current situation extends beyond Pakistan, with reports also coming in from users in the United States and the United Kingdom. Many individuals have voiced their frustration at the inability to access ChatGPT through both the web and mobile app.
