Samsung Could Launch A 'Slim' Galaxy Z Fold 6 Variant In October ...
Samsung recently unveiled its latest foldable smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris. However, new reports suggest that the company is working on a new variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which may have a limited release in specific countries.
Expected Features of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Variant
The new variant, rumored to be named “Q6A,” is anticipated to come with a slimmer design and larger displays. There are speculations that if this variant is categorized as an “Ultra” model, it might also offer significant camera upgrades. Reports also mention that Samsung is currently testing software for a device with the model number “SM-F958N.” This new variant is likely to be launched exclusively in China and South Korea initially.
Potential Launch in October
Sources suggest that Samsung could introduce a 10 mm Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim model in October. This launch event might also reveal the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series, which is expected to include the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Additionally, there are speculations that Samsung might unveil its first extended reality (XR) headset during the October event, with a planned public release in 2025.
Slimmer and Lighter Devices
TM Roh, President, and head of Samsung's Mobile eXperience (MX) division, has expressed a vision for future Galaxy foldable phones to be even slimmer. Samsung engineers have been tasked with developing an extra-slim foldable smartphone with a thickness similar to the bar-type Galaxy S24, which measures 7.7 millimeters when folded.
The MX division is also focusing on reducing the weight of its upcoming foldables to below 239 grams. Despite the slim design, Samsung’s next foldable smartphones are expected to feature a larger 8-inch screen compared to the 7.6-inch Z Fold6 screen when unfolded.
