Quora's Poe now lets users create and share web apps | TechCrunch
Quora’s subscription-based, cross-platform aggregator Poe has introduced a new feature called Previews, allowing users to develop interactive apps directly within chat conversations with AI-powered chatbots like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s GPT-4o.
With Previews, Poe users can design data visualizations, games, and other applications by typing commands such as "Analyze the information in this report and turn it into a digestible and interactive presentation to help me understand it." These apps can leverage multiple chatbots, incorporate information from uploaded files (including videos), and can be easily shared through a link.

Interactive Apps with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Previews are reminiscent of Anthropic’s Artifacts workspace but with the key distinction that Previews supports HTML output, including CSS and JavaScript functionalities. Quora has promised more advanced features for Previews in the future, making it a versatile tool for users of any chatbot.

According to Quora, Previews is most effective when used with chatbots known for their programming capabilities, such as Claude 3.5 Sonnet, GPT-4o, and Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro. While I did not personally test the app creation feature of Previews, it is part of Poe’s premium plan, which requires a monthly subscription fee of $20.
The demos available on the web, created by the Poe team, demonstrate the functionality of Previews as advertised.
Controversy and Innovation
Previews’ launch coincides with controversy surrounding Poe, as an investigation by Wired revealed that the platform had allowed users to access paywalled articles from various news publications through Quora’s Assistant chatbot.

Despite the scrutiny, Quora stands by its position. The introduction of Previews showcases the platform’s commitment to innovation and providing users with cutting-edge tools for app development and collaboration.
