Google's Gemini Chatbot Introduces Memory Feature - Sunrise Geek
Google introduced for its Chatbot Gemini a new feature that allows the AI chatbot to remember different things such as information about users's lives, work, and personal preferences. According to some posts on the X platform along with the Google official post on X, from now on, the Gemini AI chatbot will have a memory feature for Gemini users. So, similar to the ChatGPT memory feature, Gemini will be able to add context to the current conversations. For example, if a user informs the Gemini chatbot about various favorite foods, it is most likely that the next time it asks for restaurant recommendations, it will take into consideration the previous favorite foods.
Rolling out starting today, you can ask Gemini Advanced to remember your interests and preferences for more helpful, relevant responses. Easily view, edit, or delete any information you've shared, and see when it’s used.
User Interactions with Gemini Chatbot
According to Google, users are free to share their interests, details about their jobs, hobbies, and even wishes during the Gemini conversation. So, based on this information, Google’s AI chatbot will be able to adapt its answers in order to give the best responses. Users will also be able to save different important details about themselves in the “Safe Info” feature of the Gemini chatbot. The “save Info” option will include various details about people, but users are able anytime to view, edit, and also delete different elements that this feature has collected over time. The safety concerns should not exist due to the fact that the AI chatbot will notify users when it will incorporate information from responses.

Availability and Usage
It’s important to mention that Memory is available only for those subscribers who are signed into Google’s One AI Premium plan for $20 per month. For now, this feature is only available for the web version of the Gemini AI chatbot and is expected to come soon on the Gemini iOS and Android apps. Also in the Gemini Ai chatbot interface, Google suggests some examples of memories such as “Use simple language and avoid jargon” or “I can only write code in JavaScript”. Users should keep in mind that the memory feature can be switched off at any time but Gemini memories will be stored until users will manually delete them.
Also, the important element is that the memories feature will not be further used for model training.
“Your saved information is never shared or used to train the model,” Google’s spokesperson stated.
Comparison with ChatGPT
OpenAI first revealed a memory feature to the subscribers of ChatGPT Plus earlier this year in April, and similar to Gemini it can also monitor various things that users mentioned in their conversations.
