Apple AI glasses 'better made' than Meta's now on tap for 2026 ...
Apple is already looking ahead to 2026 with big plans in store. Along with a folding phone and OLED MacBooks, Apple is set to launch a new wearable powered by Apple Intelligence.
Apple's Smart Glasses
In the second half of 2026, Apple plans to release smart glasses, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. These glasses will bear resemblance to the Ray-Ban Meta glasses but will be "better made," according to Gurman.

The smart glasses will feature a built-in camera for taking pictures, video recording, and image analysis. They will also include open-ear speakers, a microphone for voice commands, and the capability to handle tasks such as phone calls, music playback, live translations, and turn-by-turn directions. Though augmented reality support is planned for the future, it is still "years away."
Concerns and Development
While Apple's smart glasses will leverage AI-based features, concerns have been raised within the company about potential mishandling of AI development impacting the product's progress. Apple's Visual Intelligence introduced with iOS 18.2 heavily relies on ChatGPT, prompting the need for Apple to develop its own AI technology, potentially through a revamped Siri.

Gurman also noted that Apple has abandoned plans to integrate cameras into the Apple Watch, redirecting focus on camera-equipped AirPods instead to facilitate AI-based features.
