10 Exciting Voice Options Coming to Google Gemini

Google Gemini could soon be available in more voices - SamMobile

Google offers two voice assistants on Android: Google Assistant and Gemini. While Google Assistant is available in twelve voices, Gemini, unfortunately, is available in only one voice. People have been requesting the company to offer the latter in more voices to suit their preferences. Well, Google seems to have heard them as it is working on offering more voices for Google Gemini.

Gemini App Beta Version

According to a post from @AseembleDebug on X/Twitter, the latest beta version of the Gemini app for Android offers a new option called ‘Gemini voice’ in Gemini Settings. Currently, tapping on this option opens an empty page. However, Google might add voice options in this section at a later date. This option confirms that Google Gemini will soon get voice options.

Voice Selection Option

Separately, according to the app researcher on Android Authority, the latest beta version of the Google app for Android offers a new option called ‘Voice Selection’ in general Settings. Its description says “Choose which voice should be preferred for speech responses for Search.” Currently, it offers one voice for English, called ‘Ruby‘, and one for German, called ‘River.’

How to Update Chrome on Your Computer, Android, or iPhone

The ‘Voice Selection’ option is different from the ‘Gemini voice’ option in the Gemini app’s Gemini Settings and from the ‘Assistant voice & sounds option’ in the Google app’s settings for Google Assistant that offers twelve voices for Google Assistant.

Since the ‘Voice selection’ option neither mentions Google Assistant nor Gemini, it is unclear to which voice assistant the voice options it offers belong. Our guess is that this option allows you to set a single voice for Google Assistant and Gemini, which we think is a great feature as well.

Availability

Currently, there’s no information about when Google will make the ‘Gemini voice’ option in the Gemini app and the ‘Voice Selection’ option in the Google app available to the public. However, going by the company’s track record, it could roll out those options in the next few months.
