Google NotebookLM Lands in India and Global Markets with Major Gemini 1.5 Pro Update
Google’s NotebookLM has been updated with new features and expanded to over 200 countries and regions, making it accessible to users in India and beyond. The AI-powered research and writing assistant, initially known as Project Tailwind, was introduced at last year’s Google I/O event and was later rolled out to a limited number of users in the US.
The platform now offers features such as web URLs and Google Slides as sources, inline citations, and more, powered by the Gemini 1.5 Pro AI model.
Enhanced Features and Capabilities
With the integration of the Gemini 1.5 Pro AI model, NotebookLM now has multimodal capabilities, allowing users to add images, charts, and diagrams in sources for analysis. Previously limited to text analysis, the platform can now answer questions related to visual content.
Additionally, users can now upload Google Slides and website URLs as sources, enabling the AI chatbot to organize and respond to queries based on these sources.
Improved Functionality
Furthermore, NotebookLM now provides inline citations for generated responses, allowing users to fact-check easily by accessing the supporting passage from the original source. The platform also boasts a deeper understanding of sources, generating frequently asked questions, briefing documents, and study guides upon request.
During a media briefing, Google Labs’ Senior Product Manager Raiza Martin clarified that the AI model is not trained on user data or sources.
How to Use NotebookLM
To use NotebookLM, users can visit the platform’s website, click on “Try NotebookLM,” and upload their preferred source either from Google Drive, PDF files, Text files, or directly from a URL. The AI chatbot will then analyze the content and help answer questions based on the uploaded material.
Stay tuned for the latest updates and advancements in the AI-powered research and writing assistant, NotebookLM.
