Enhanced Capabilities
Google is enhancing Gemini’s capabilities, positioning it as an even more helpful AI assistant. The company has begun rolling out a new feature called “scheduled actions” for users subscribed to the AI Pro and AI Ultra plans.
What are Scheduled Actions?
With scheduled actions, users can ask Gemini to carry out specific tasks at set times—like delivering a daily calendar summary in the evening or brainstorming blog ideas every Monday. The feature also works for one-time tasks, such as summarizing an award show the day after it airs.
How Does it Work?
“Just tell Gemini what you need and when, and it will take care of the rest,” Google explained in a recent announcement. Subscribers can manage these scheduled tasks by navigating to the “scheduled actions” section in the Gemini app’s settings.
Comparison with Other Platforms
The feature was first spotted in testing by Android Authority back in April and reflects Google’s broader push to give Gemini more agent-like functionality. This move puts Gemini on par with similar tools from other AI platforms—like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which already supports scheduled reminders and recurring actions for its paid users.
