ChatGPT's Android app arrives in the last week of July
OpenAI first released the ChatGPT app for the iPhone back in May, with a promise to deliver the Android version soon. Finally, the company has announced that ChatGPT for Android will start rolling out to users in the coming week.
For those eager to get their hands on the Android version, the Google Play listing is already live, allowing users to pre-register and receive the app as soon as it becomes available. The iOS app had initially launched in the US, but OpenAI quickly expanded its reach to more regions. Similarly, the Android version is expected to be accessible in various countries shortly after its launch.
While users could access ChatGPT on Android through a browser previously, the dedicated app will offer a more optimized interface for mobile users. Just like the iOS version that received support for Siri and Shortcuts in June, the Android app is likely to come with tailored features for users on the platform.
OpenAI has also been testing a new opt-in feature for ChatGPT Plus subscribers, providing the AI chatbot with continuous memory capabilities. By enabling this feature, the chatbot can remember user interactions across conversations, streamlining queries and enhancing user experience.
Excitingly, users can already pre-order the ChatGPT app for Android on the Google Play Store starting today. The official rollout is scheduled for the last week of July. Stay tuned for updates!
