Meta Launches Standalone Meta AI Mobile App
Meta has launched a standalone mobile app for Meta AI, its chatbot that is already available within WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. The app provides a familiar chat interface with image generation capabilities. In addition, there is an experimental full-duplex speech technology that enhances voice conversations.
Voice conversations and the full-duplex experimental feature are currently limited to users in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. When using the full-duplex speech technology, Meta AI does not have access to the web or real-time information. The company stated that this experimental feature aims to provide users with a glimpse into the future of AI technology.
Meta AI offers a more personalized assistant experience that utilizes users' personal data to provide tailored responses. The chatbot includes a memory feature similar to ChatGPT, allowing users to instruct it to remember specific details about them.
Personalized Responses and Discover Feed
The personalized responses feature, currently available in the US and Canada, tailors the chatbot's answers based on the information users have shared on Meta products. By connecting their Facebook and Instagram accounts to Meta's Account Center, users can enable Meta AI to access more of their data for enhanced personalization.
The new Meta AI app introduces a Discover feed that enables users to share their chatbot interactions with others. Users can view and remix shared prompts within the feed, with full control over what is posted. This feature will also be available on the Meta AI web app, along with additional voice capabilities.
Integration with Meta View Companion App
The Meta AI app integrates features from the existing Meta View companion app designed for Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Users can manage their paired devices and settings through the Devices tab on the app. Additionally, Meta AI will display previous conversations that originated from interactions on the glasses.
To access Meta AI, users can download the app from the App Store and Google Play Store. Alternatively, the chatbot is also accessible on the web at meta.ai, allowing users to engage with it without the need to log in with a Facebook or Instagram account.
