Google recently announced that Gemini will roll out for new Pixel 9 devices and others in the coming days. In an exclusive conversation with Business Today, Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem at Google, addressed the privacy concerns of users regarding the upcoming Gemini AI features.
Samat emphasized Google's commitment to privacy and security, stating, “Android is always focused on privacy and security. It's always been important for our consumers, and so we've prioritized it, of course, for you to have a truly go-to personal assistant that you talk to about anything in your life. Your information needs to be private and secure. One of the advantages that Google has is that we've invested in AI over decades, resulting in a full stack technology, from optimizing AI on the device to the cloud."
Privacy and Security
He highlighted the significance of Gemini's ability to handle personal questions within Google's system without sharing data with unknown or untrusted third-party AI providers. When discussing the openness of AI, Samat expressed his belief that AI should be open source to better serve consumers.
“Consumers want AI to be assistive in their everyday lives. Some of the features demonstrated today are changing the conversation from technology to practical assistance. For instance, Gemini Live assisted me in purchasing a used car by providing relevant information quickly and efficiently. What would have taken an hour of research was condensed into five minutes with the help of Gemini," he explained.
The Future of AI
Samat stressed the importance of AI being helpful and user-friendly. He believes that technology should focus on assisting users in their daily routines, such as making informed decisions or simplifying complex tasks.
