During a recent preview, we were able to test Gemini interactions on Android Auto, specifically with Gemini Live. While the functionality is still in development, we were able to explore the features and interface.
Using Gemini Live on Android Auto
While demonstrating Gemini Live on Android Auto via a phone screen, we discovered some intriguing features. The interaction involved waking up Gemini with a query before engaging in a back-and-forth Live experience. The interface includes listening controls for pausing or ending conversations, similar to the mobile version of Gemini Live.
As the UI is a work in progress, it is subject to further refinement before the official release. Google is expected to fine-tune the user experience to ensure a seamless integration of Gemini Live with Android Auto.
As the development progresses, we anticipate potential functional changes to optimize the driver's experience. While Gemini Live offers convenience, there is also a need to balance its utility with potential distractions on the road.
