The latest beta update (version 1.2025.070) now allows you to set ChatGPT as your default assistant app. This means that you can replace your system assistant with OpenAI's chatbot as the primary assistant on your device.
Once you've made the switch, accessing ChatGPT is simple. You can long-press the home button (for the classic three-button layout) or swipe up from the bottom corner (with gesture navigation). Additionally, there's an option to activate ChatGPT's voice mode by long-pressing the power button, provided the feature is enabled in your settings.
However, there's a small limitation to be aware of—currently, you cannot wake up ChatGPT with a voice command like "Hey ChatGPT." This hotword-triggering feature is restricted to preinstalled apps or those with special system-level privileges from Google.

This update coincides with Google's shift towards replacing Google Assistant with its newer AI-powered assistant, Gemini.
