Apple to Open AI Server Factory in Texas as part of $500 Billion U.S. Investment
Apple has announced plans to open a new factory for artificial intelligence servers in Texas as part of a $500 billion investment in the U.S. This move is a strategic initiative by the U.S. technology giant to strengthen its operations and presence in the country.
Expansion Plans
The new 250,000-square-foot server manufacturing facility will be located in Houston and will cater to the production of servers for Apple Intelligence, the AI personal assistant used in iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers. The facility is scheduled to commence operations in 2026 and is expected to play a key role in Apple's investment strategy over the next four years.
Alongside the Texas factory, Apple has also announced its intention to hire approximately 20,000 new employees across various locations in the U.S. These new hires will primarily focus on research and development, silicon engineering, software development, as well as AI and machine learning, reflecting Apple's commitment to innovation and growth.
Investment Commitment
Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized the company's confidence in American innovation, stating, "We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we're proud to build on our long-standing U.S. investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country's future." This significant investment underlines Apple's dedication to driving technological advancements and job creation within the U.S.
Apple's decision to establish the new factory in Texas follows a recent meeting between the company's chief executive and President Donald Trump. The move is seen as a strategic response to the evolving geopolitical landscape and the increasing emphasis on domestic manufacturing.
Supporting American Economy
The $500 billion investment plan encompasses collaborative efforts with suppliers nationwide, the production of content for Apple TV+ in 20 states, as well as substantial research and development spending. Apple's contributions to the U.S. economy are highlighted by its substantial tax payments, with over $75 billion paid in U.S. taxes in the past five years alone.
