Gemini Now Available In Hindi, More Top Announcements From Google for India Event
Google for India recently held its 10th annual edition, where the tech giant made several India-specific announcements, highlighting its focus on AI and localized services. This event celebrated Google's 20 years of operations in the country, unveiling significant advancements aimed at enhancing accessibility and utility for Indian users.
One of the key highlights of the event was the expansion of Google's AI model, Gemini. Initially launched in English, Gemini Live now offers support for Hindi, with plans underway to introduce eight more Indian languages in the near future. Additionally, Google AI Overview, previously accessible only in Hindi, has expanded its support to include languages like Bengali, Telugu, and Marathi, catering to a wider linguistic audience in India.
New Features on Google Maps
Google Maps introduced two new features specifically for Indian users to enhance real-time navigation. These features provide alerts for fog and flood conditions on roads, empowering users to make informed decisions while traveling across the country.
Innovations in Healthcare and Payments
Google is leveraging AI in the healthcare sector by collaborating with Indian hospitals to offer free screenings for diseases like cancer and tuberculosis over the next decade. This initiative aims to improve healthcare outcomes nationwide.
On the payments front, Google Pay now supports UPI Circle, enabling users to request payments on behalf of others, such as parents making purchases for their children. The platform has also increased loan limits, allowing users to apply for Gold loans of up to Rs 50 lakh, further expanding its financial services.
Empowering Merchants and AI Education
Merchants now have access to new tools that allow them to include their WhatsApp contact information in their Google business profiles, streamlining customer interactions. This feature is initially rolling out in India, demonstrating Google's commitment to empowering local businesses.
Google's dedication to AI education is evident through the launch of AI Skills House, a learning platform designed to train students, educators, and professionals. The courses will eventually be offered in seven Indian languages, targeting a vast audience of over 10 million learners.
Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Initiatives
Google announced a $4 million initiative through Google.org to enhance education in India, showcasing its commitment to corporate social responsibility. The company is also expanding its carbon-free energy goals by adding 186 MW of clean energy to the Indian grid and partnering with the Adani Group to establish a solar farm in Gujarat.
As part of its cybersecurity efforts, Google will introduce the Safety Engineering System in India by 2025, building on its anti-fraud DigiKavach service launched last year to bolster cybersecurity measures in the country.
