AI in Art
Refik Anadol’s 'Large Nature Model: Coral' utilizes AI technology to convert 100 million coral images into a massive immersive artwork, shedding light on environmental issues at the United Nations General Assembly. This installation is currently on display at the UN headquarters during the General Assembly’s high-level week, in collaboration with the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General and the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation. It aims to underscore the fragility of coral ecosystems in the face of climate change, with the goal of sparking a global conversation on environmental preservation. Additionally, Anadol is planning to launch Dataland, the world’s inaugural museum dedicated to AI-generated art, in Los Angeles in 2025. The museum will showcase "living paintings" generated by training an AI model on half a billion images, sounds, and scents, resulting in immersive artworks reminiscent of rainforests and underwater coral.
