One of the new features Meta is bringing to its smart glasses is Reminders. Users can now instruct their glasses to remind them about specific tasks or items they encounter. For example, if a user realizes they are running low on a particular item in the kitchen, they can instruct the glasses to remind them when they are at the grocery store, eliminating the need for constant verbal commands.
The glasses also come equipped with the ability to scan QR codes directly, reducing the need to frequently use a smartphone for such tasks.
AI Advancements
Meta AI's extension as a multimodal platform that supports video will be available later this year. This feature enables users to share their point of view in real-time, which can be particularly useful for activities like exploring a new city or following a recipe.
Moreover, the upcoming live language translation feature will allow users to translate languages between English and French, Italian, or Spanish. Additionally, the integration with popular music and audiobook platforms like Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, and iHeart enhances the overall user experience.
Collaboration and Partnerships
Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses will soon collaborate with Be My Eyes, a mobile app that assists blind or low-vision individuals by connecting them with volunteers through live video calls. This partnership aims to provide more efficient assistance to those in need, leveraging the capabilities of smart glasses.
Meta is also introducing five new Transitions lenses in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, the owner of Ray-Ban.
